Winning Saturday Gold Lotto once is a dream for many Queenslanders, but for one Sunshine Coast man, the division one dream came true twice during the weekend’s draw.
The man in his 40s held two of the four division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3885 on 13 October 2018. Each entry takes home a division one prize of $993,091.48, which means the winner takes home more than $1.98 million.
When a Golden Casket official contacted the man this morning to confirm his prize, he was already celebrating his win.
But the winner was oblivious to the fact he had won division one twice due to the fact he had two entries of the same numbers in the one Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
“Holy f***! Two?! Two?! Oh my god. I’ve got double that win?” he exclaimed.
“So I’ve got more than $1.98 million? Mate, you’re kidding me, you are kidding me!
“This is f***ing intense!
“Today, you‘ve changed my life man!
“What I did is I accidentally doubled up. I did buy two tickets. I’ve done it a few times now. I buy entries in advance, but then sometimes overlap when I get the next one.
“I can’t believe it.”
The Sunshine Coast man explained both his division one winning entries featured numbers that were special to him.
“I’ve been playing these numbers a long time – they’re my favourite numbers. I’m superstitious. If I’m going to play, I have to play those numbers,” he explained.
While he had already begun contemplating how he might use his windfall, the winner confessed those plans would now change following the revelation he was a double division one winner.
“Twice. Yeah, this has changed the whole picture,” he said.
“Will I quit my job? This is a distinct possibility!
“This just puts us ahead of the game.
“I’m going to cry. I need to ring my mum and dad. With this, I can do something for them.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his two identical 50-game marked entries online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 146 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3885 on Saturday 13 October 2018 were 10, 34, 6, 40, 37 and 3, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 18.
Across Australia there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3885 – two from Queensland and one each from South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 305 so far this calendar year, including 70 won by Golden Casket customers.
Last financial year, there were 290 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $302.7 million.
