Despite scoring an incredible $25 million Powerball prize, an Alice Springs dad says he has no plans to give up work, vowing to keep contributing to the workforce for years to come.
The Northern Territory resident held one of the two division one winning nationally in Powerball draw 1534, drawn Thursday 9 October 2025. Each entry took home $25 million.
The prize is believed to be the biggest individual lottery win to land in the Northern Territory.
As the winning entry wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, officials from The Lott had been waiting for the ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward.
The top-end is on a winning streak in 2025, with five major lottery wins landing in the territory that have collectively taken home more than $28.59 million in prize money.
The hard-working man relayed how the multi-million-dollar discovery came about when speaking to an official from The Lott this morning.
“Woo-hoo! I’m debt-free!” he joyfully laughed.
“Thank you so much! This is very exciting.
“I had no idea. The missus actually reminded me to check my Powerball ticket this morning. I grabbed the ticket, which was sitting in my ute this entire time, and checked it in front of her.
“We couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw we had won $25 million. My wife nearly fainted!
“We just kept checking it over and over and it kept coming up with $25 million!
“I immediately burst into tears.
“I’m going to continue to work – contribute to the workforce!
“But it means I’ll be able to pay off my bills and be mortgage-free. I’ll also be able to look after the children and set them up for life.
“Thank you! Thank you!”
The winning entry was sold at The Lucky Charm Alice Springs, Shop 3-5 Coles Complex, 45 Railway Terrace, Alice Springs.
