Numbers based on those worn by Hawthorn players in the ‘80s have kicked a goal for one Montrose man who scored division one in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The man held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 3941 on 27 April 2019. Each division one winning entry takes home a division one prize of $979,483.89.

The self-employed man was hard at work this morning and oblivious to his TattsLotto win when a Tatts official made contact with him.

“This isn’t a joke is it?” he queried.

“I’ll have to have a sit down.

“My God! I just can’t believe it.

“I’ve played these numbers for more than 30 years. They’re a mix of birthdays and some are jersey numbers of my favourite Hawthorn players in the ‘80s. None of them play anymore. They were a good team then and they’ve done it for me now.

“I’ve just told my wife we’ve won and she’s a mess!”

The regular player shared the win had come at the perfect time, and would allow him to slow down at work and spend more time with his family.

“We’ve had a rough couple of years and hopefully this is a sign of good things to come,” he said.

“This will go a long way. I’ll be able to cut down on work a bit, the house needs a lot of work and we can also help our kids.

“I’ll have a spring in my step at work today!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 10-game marked entry at Montrose News & Lotto, Shop 1, 912 Mt Dandenong Tourist Road, Montrose.

Montrose News & Lotto owner Manny Sarellis said he was ecstatic to see one of his customers land a division one prize.

“This is the first division one win I’ve had since I took over the store about two and a half years ago,” he said.

“It’s just fantastic. I’m very, very happy.

“Hopefully we’ll see another win come our way soon.”
