One Hawthorne woman is still beaming in disbelief after revealing a million-dollar top prize on the Instant Scratch-Its ticket she received as a gift from her hubsand.
The top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at The Lucky Charm Noosaville, Shop 1069A, Noosa Civic Shopping Centre, Noosaville.
Sharing her joy with a Golden Casket official, the Brisbane mum confessed she was “astounded” by her win.
“I had no idea you could win a million dollars on a ticket!” she exclaimed.
“My husband gave it to me but I didn’t bother scratching it until a day or two later. And then I thought I hadn’t won anything!
“But then we realised we had won a million dollars! Isn’t it good?! I’m a happy chappy!”
“She was going to throw the ticket into the bin!” her husband added.
The husband explained how he had bought the winning ticket for his wife while visiting family on the Sunshine Coast.
“I went into the newsagency and I’m standing in the queue and I saw the ticket there and I thought I would buy her a $20 one,” he said.
“A million dollars is a serious bit of money!”
As for how the $1 million instant prize might change the rest of her 2019, the winning woman shared she had a few plans.
“We’ll invest it. We want to make this work for us,” she said.
“I’ve also been wanting to go on a cruise on the river in Germany, but it’s always been too expensive. I’m going to do it now!”
“She might even take me!” her husband laughed.
The Lucky Charm Noosaville owner Chris Muggeride said he couldn’t believe his outlet sold such a massive Instant Scratch-Its prize.
“I couldn’t believe a million dollars was just sitting in our cabinet waiting to be scratched!” he exclaimed.
“It was fantastic to discover we’d sold such a big prize and even better to celebrate with our winner when she came into our store to thank us.
“We’ve sold a few division one winning entries in the past and $10,000 and $100,000 top prizes on Instant Scratch-Its tickets but this is definitely the biggest scratchie win we’ve had.
“You can’t get much better than the biggest prize on offer!
“We are thrilled for our winner! We wish them all the best with their prize.”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
