A hardworking Lakemba man checked his winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket at three different outlets this morning before he believed he was the region’s new millionaire.
The man’s entry was one of only two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3782, drawn on 16 July 2018. Each entry takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning to confirm his win, the ecstatic winner admitted it took some convincing before he believed he had become an overnight millionaire.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” he exclaimed.
“This is really good!
“I’ve checked my ticket at a couple of newsagencies, but I just didn’t believe it until now.
“I’ve come in here where I bought my ticket and the owner’s shaken my hand and said ‘congratulations, you’ve won a million dollars’.
“I play every week but I never thought I’d ever win something this big. I’m always hoping to win something to maybe go on a holiday or buy a car, but I didn’t think it would be this huge.
“I’ve been winning here and there with $50 and $20, but it never crossed my mind that the heavens were going to open for me like this!” The new millionaire said he knew exactly how he would use his Lotto windfall.
“I’ve got a bomb car, so I’ll buy myself a new car. A small car, not a luxury car, and then I’ll look at buying a house,” he shared.
“I’ll still go to work each day but this will make things a lot easier.”
Lakemba Newsagency & General Store owner Amir Khan said he was happy the winner had been united with their windfall.
“This is our first division one winning entry and it’s amazing to know we’ve turned one of our customers into a millionaire!” he exclaimed.
“We’ve had lots of people come in to check their tickets hoping they are holding the winning ticket.
“We wish our winner all the very best with their prize!”
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto have created 101 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3782 on Monday 16 July 2018 were 14, 37, 16, 40, 35 and 42, while the supplementary numbers were 15 and 3.
Across Australia there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3782 – one each from South Australia and New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 216 so far this calendar year, including 52 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
Last financial year, there were 73 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won $73 million.
