A Warrawong man who initially thought he’d been pranked with news he’d won $200,000 was thrilled to discover the life-changing news was true.
The New South Wales player won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1456, drawn Thursday 31 October 2019.
A NSW Lotteries official called the man this afternoon, who initially thought the winning news could’ve been a Halloween trick.
“I hope this isn’t a prank,” he laughed.
“Are you sure? Oh thank you so much.
“I am absolutely gobsmacked! This is just fantastic.
“This is the best news I have ever had.
“I had absolutely no idea. This is a great surprise.”
The surprised winner said he would spend the night celebrating with a Halloween treat and dreaming of how to enjoy his windfall.
“I will go out with my wife for a nice dinner tonight. We will pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate and we’ll try to decide how to spend our prize,” he explained.
“We will pay off the mortgage first.
“We’d like to do a bit of a road trip around Australia. I am not really sure yet though.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at X-tra Warrawong, Shops 39 – 40 Warrawong Plaza, Cnr King and Cowper Street, Warrawong.
X-tra Warrawong owner Steve Vo said he was thrilled to have sold a 1st Prize winning entry.
“It is so great. As soon as we saw we’d sold the prize we were so ecstatic,” he said.
“We are very happy for our winner and we wish him all the best with his prize.
“Hopefully we sell some more major prize-winning entries soon.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $7.17 million for draw 1457 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $6.22 million for draw 10329.
