A man from Alligator Creek was overwhelmed with emotion and struggled to hold back tears upon hearing the news he’d won $1.2 million in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The North Queenslander held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4561, drawn Saturday 5 April 2025. Each entry scored $1,260,543.17.
So far in 2025, there have been three major lottery wins in the North Queensland region, collectively taking home more than $2.36 million in prize money.
The retiree was starting his day as normal when he received an unforgettable phone call from an official from The Lott revealing his millionaire status.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” he cried.
“Oh Jesus. I’m nearly crying; no, I am crying!
“I’ve been dreaming about this for a while. Thank you so much, thank you.
“I had no idea about this win. I was out all day helping friends with some maintenance and by the time I came home, I was absolutely shattered.
“I didn’t have the energy to do anything, let alone check my ticket.
“My head is spinning. I’ve got a sore arm from pinching myself too much!
“I can’t wait to tell my wife. She always makes fun of me for only ever winning $100 here and there.
“I’ll be walking straight into her place of work and surprise her. I’ll say, “We’re going out for a nice lunch!”.
“I’m going to be doing somersaults for the rest of the day.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the overjoyed man revealed his long-held dream of buying a campervan and exploring the Great Southern Land alongside his wife and close friends.
“My wife and I are great mates with another couple, and we’ve always talked about how amazing it would be to buy a campervan and travel together. I never imagined it would actually happen – but now I can,” he said.
“I’ve got a lot of home renovations to do as well.
“Oh my, I can’t stop crying! I’m being a sook now.”
His winning 18-game QuickPick was purchased at The Lucky Charm Fairfield, Shop T15 Fairfield Shopping Centre, 2-30 Lakeside Drive, Idalia.
The Lucky Charm Fairfield team were overjoyed to have sold a division one winning entry to a local customer and wished them all the very best with their million-dollar win.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4561 on 5 April 2025 were 3, 42, 43, 10, 27 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 18.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4561 – one each in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 359 so far in FY25, including 90 won by Golden Casket customers.
