A Newcastle man couldn’t contain his joy, breaking into an impromptu happy dance after receiving the life-enhancing news that he’d won $100,000 in today’s Lucky Lotteries draw.

The New South Wales resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10916, drawn Thursday 16 January 2025 and pocketed a total prize of $100,000.

The ecstatic winner shared he’d been playing Lucky Lotteries for years, always dreaming of the day he might receive a winning phone call from lottery officials.

“Are you calling with good news?” he questioned when an official from The Lott made contact.

“I knew you’d ring me one day!

“Thank you so much! One hundred thousand dollars is really exciting!

“I’ve been playing Lucky Lotteries for years now. I’m a bit of a daydreamer, and I’ve always loved daydreaming of a win like this.

“I think I’m going to do a happy dance once I hop off the phone.”

With $100,000 soon to boost his bank account, the winning man wasted no time contemplating the endless possibilities a major lottery win brings.

“I’m already thinking of all the things we could do. I’m sure my smart wife will bring me back down to earth,” he said.

“I might jump on car sales and have a look at my dream car.

“No doubt I’ll be spoiling my kids too.”

His winning entry of five random numbers was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $4.12 million for draw 1695, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $9.99 million for draw 10917.

In FY24, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $53.4 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In FY24, more than 132.8 million winners took home more than $4.4 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.8 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
