A Herberton woman’s mundane morning commute shifted gears when she heard her winning lottery numbers read out on the radio, delivering her a $370,000 win in Saturday Gold Lotto.
The Tablelands region resident held one of 14 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4497 drawn on Saturday 24 August 2024 and pocketed a total prize of $379,602.67.
“What an amazing start to the week!” the winning woman cheered when an official from The Lott confirmed her prize.
“I still can’t believe it!
“I first heard my winning numbers come up over the radio - I thought it was a mistake.
“I had to quickly pull over and have a look for myself.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for a couple of years now, patiently waiting for some success.
“It still doesn’t feel real! Someone pinch me!”
With more than $379,000 about to boost her bank account this coming month, the winning woman shared that bringing her family together was top of mind.
“I’m looking forward to buying my mum a house and moving her closer to our family,” she said.
“This is the perfect amount to get her a place of her own.
“We’ll be celebrating as a family for some time!
The woman’s winning entry was purchased at Herberton Newsagency, 56 Grace Street, Herberton.
Herberton Newsagency owner Linda Darr said she was absolutely rapt to hear a local community member had won division one over the weekend.
“Our customers are equally as thrilled by the news, and there has been a positive buzz in our outlet all morning,” she said.
“We will continue to celebrate this milestone in our outlet with posters, balloons and champagne.
“We wish our winner all the best with their prize!”
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4497 on 24 August 2024 were 5, 43, 8, 42, 45 and 44 while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 32.
Across Australia, there were 14 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4497 – five in Victoria, three in Queensland, three in New South Wales, two in Western Australia and one in South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 286 so far in 2024, including 72 won by Golden Casket customers.
In FY24, Saturday Gold Lotto created 158 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 291 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $436 million.
