A Oaklands Park father can’t wait to surprise his daughter with the greatest gift of all – her wedding paid in full – after taking home a Keno Spot 9 prize worth $170,000.
The South Australian scored the $170,744 Keno Spot 9 prize in draw 220804 156, drawn Thursday 4 August 2022.
Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the merry man recounted the moment he discovered his life-enhancing win.
“It happened all so suddenly – I was trembling!” he shared.
“The winning numbers came up on the screen three minutes after I purchased the ticket. It felt like it was meant to be.
“I went up to the team member at the counter, and she confirmed the win. That’s when I started bawling my eyes out!
“Wow, just relaying the story back to you is making my eyes water!
“I’ve had smaller wins here and there, but nothing like this. I’ve always dreamt of winning a major prize.
“My daughter has held back from getting married for a long time due to financial reasons, and this prize means I can pay for it in full.
“I want to make it an exciting wedding - she’s a gem of a kid!
“I’m going to visit her later today and surprise her!
“This is the best timing!”
The Adelaide resident purchased his winning entry at Campbell’s Newsagency, Shop 1012/1013, Westfield Shoppingtown, 297 Diagonal Road, Oaklands Park.
Campbell’s Newsagency team member Chenny Herbett said the team was overjoyed to have sold a winning ticket to a local customer.
“This is wonderful news for our team, and the community!” she said.
“When the winner checked his ticket at our store, he broke into tears. We can tell the win really means a lot, and we’re so happy for him.
“In May, we sold a division one winning entry in Super 66, so we’re stoked that the wins keep on coming! We hope to sell another one in this weekend’s boosted Saturday X Lotto draw.
“Congratulations to the winner and his family. We wish you all the best with your prize!”
In 2021, there were more than 4.78 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than 98.8 million. This included 36 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $6.29 million.
The Spot 10 prize was won twice during this time – a win worth more than $1.47 million was won by a Fullarton woman in March, while a win with more than $2.4 million was won by Norwood man in November.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
