A Nambour man has wasted no time dreaming up his new life as a Lotto winner after receiving the surprise call revealing he’d pocketed more than $740,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Sunshine Coast resident held one of the nine division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4643, drawn Saturday 17 January 2026. Each division one winning entry scored $741,935.70.
The winning man had forgotten about his ticket over the weekend and was completely blown away by the revelation.
“Oh my god! Division one!” he cheered.
“Wow. That’s pretty good. Thank you! That’s amazing.
“It will help a lot. God, I’m lost for words.
“I had no idea. I normally check my ticket after the draw, but it didn’t even cross my mind.
“I never thought that’s why you’d be calling. I think the most I’ve won is about 30 or 40 dollars.
“I’m just in shock.”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the gleeful man confessed he was already planning a list.
“I’m already spending it in my head,” he laughed.
“It’ll wipe out the mortgage, and then it means the money we normally pay towards the mortgage can be ours.”
His winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4643 on 17 January 2026 were 38, 8, 35, 19, 44 and 9, while the supplementary numbers were 23 and 33.
Across Australia, there were nine division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4643 – three each in Victoria and Western Australia, two in Queensland, and one in New South Wales.
