An overjoyed Mudgee man was left trembling with joy and weak at the knees after discovering he’d scored a life-enhancing $100,000 in yesterday’s Lucky Lotteries draw.

The Central West resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10984, drawn Thursday 22 May 2025. He also pocketed a consolation prize, boosting his total windfall to $102,000.

The stunned winner couldn’t wait to share the winning news with his wife but first needed to think of how he would break the news without ‘knocking her over’ with shock.

“Oh, heavens above!” he gasped when an official from The Lott revealed his prize.

“I’m over the moon. This is crazy!

“I’ve been playing for years and the most I’ve ever won was $200.

“I’m shaking all over right now.

“I’m going to tell my wife soon. I’ll be sure to brace her for the good news and try my best not to knock her over.

“This is the best phone call I’ve ever received in my entire life.”

His winning entry of three consecutive numbers was purchased at Mudgee Newsagency, 77 Market Street, Mudgee.

Mudgee Newsagency team member Danelle Pike shared that the entire store erupted into celebrations when they discovered they’d sold a 1st Prize winning ticket worth $100,000.

“We were all so excited and jumping for joy when we found out we’d sold the winning ticket,” she said.

“We have a saying at our store, ‘If we can’t win it ourselves, we want to sell it’. It brings us so much joy to know we’re changing someone’s life in the community.

“Our community will be buzzing with excitement for weeks, even months, to come.

“We’re over the moon for our winner and we wish them all the best. We hope they can use their winnings to help them achieve their dreams.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $6.04 million for draw 1703, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $18.83 million for draw 10985.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.

The official home of Australia’s lotteries, The Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In 2024, more than 195.3 million winners took home more than $4.84 billion in prize money from their favourite games at The Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Weekday Windfall, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno (SA), Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

Last financial year, Australia’s official lotteries contributed more than $1.8 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
