A division six lottery win has led a Mount Gravatt man to a $260,000 Instant Scratch-Its prize after he used his winnings to purchase a top prize winning ticket.
The $5 Live the Life ticket was from Sunshine News, Shop 15, Mt Gravatt Plaza, 55 Creek Road, Mount Gravatt.
The Brisbane man will enjoy the top prize for many years to come as it is an annuity prize paid in instalments of $1,000 a week for five years.
Sharing his joy with an official from The Lott this morning, the south-east Queenslander explained the winning ticket had been sitting in his home for weeks before he scratched it.
“I’ve never won anything in my life!” he laughed.
“I can’t believe it.
“I had a small win on Lotto so I bought myself two scratchies and that’s how the win came about.
“I probably only buy scratchies every once in a blue moon.
“I had it at home for 14 days before I scratched it.
“I only remembered the tickets were at home yesterday, so I scratched them and there it was!
“It was very exciting. I thought it must have been a mistake.
“It feels so good to win something!”
When asked how he thought he might enjoy his weekly prize instalments, the winner said it would be a welcomed boost.
“It’s such nice security,” he explained.
It will make things a lot easier
Sunshine News owner Sharon Jiang said she was happy for her latest top prize winner.
“That’s great news!” she exclaimed.
“I feel like we’re on a roll at the moment. We’ve sold quite a few top prize winning tickets lately.
“It’s always very exciting for our customers and we hope the wins continue.”
In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
