An Albury man has revealed he owes his million-dollar Saturday Lotto division one win to his mum, who prompted him to buy the winning entry.

The New South Wales player held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 3993, drawn Saturday 26 October 2019. Each entry took home a division one prize of $1,007,593.45.

Confirming his prize with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the man revealed how he came to hold the winning ticket.

“I checked my ticket online yesterday morning,” he explained.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had won division one so I had to check it over and over again.

“It’s so hard to comprehend. I never thought this would happen to me.

“I’ve woken up a millionaire and it feels amazing!

“Last week I was shopping with my mum and I only bought the ticket because she told me she had a good feeling about it.

“If I hadn’t been shopping with her, I probably wouldn’t have bought it, so I certainly owe this win to my mum.

“She was in tears when I told her I’d won.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his life-changing windfall, the man said he’d be spoiling his mum.

“I need to have a good think about what I’m going to do,” he said.

“I’ve been planning to buy a new home for quite some time now so this will certainly pay for that.

“Of course I will be sharing the prize with my mum as well.

“It’s going to take some time for the news to settle in but we did pop a bottle of champagne yesterday to celebrate!”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his entry at Thurgoona Plaza Newsagency, Shop 9, Thurgoona Plaza, 10 Shuter Avenue, Thurgoona.

Thurgoona Plaza Newsagency owner Andrea Becker said it was the first time her outlet had sold a division one winning entry.

“We’ve been waiting for this day for so long!” she exclaimed.

“We’ve sold two Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot 1st Prizes in the past but this is the first time we’ve sold a Saturday Lotto division one winning entry.

“It’s a huge thrill for the community of Thurgoona and it’s fantastic that a local has won this prize.

“Congratulations to the lucky man!”
