A Killara man is ready to bid farewell to corporate chaos and embrace the serenity of early retirement after taking home $30 million in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto draw.

The Upper North Shore Sydney resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1548, drawn Tuesday 18 October 2023.

The division one winning entry was unregistered which means officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winner to confirm the life-changing news and had to wait for them to come forward.

The New South Welshman was unable to fathom the magnitude of his multi-million dollar win when an official from The Lott confirmed his windfall this morning.

“Oh wow, wow!” he gasped.

“This is so surreal. I’m over the moon!

“I’m honestly in so much shock. I don’t know what to say.

“I thought I’d check the numbers on my ticket quickly and I immediately thought something was wrong when the prize came up. I sat there pondering.

“This is a big surprise. I’m still trying to process it all. I can’t believe I’ve won $30 million.

“I’ve been in and out of the country for work, and I’m so happy to be back home in Australia.

“I haven’t been able to buy an Oz Lotto ticket while working overseas and now that I’ve purchased this ticket, I’ve landed this win. I can’t believe it.

“I usually only ever win $17 – nothing significant. This is significant!

“It hasn’t sunk in at all.

“I think I’m going to sit down and process it all today.”

The newly minted multi-millionaire revealed early retirement was on the cards as he looked forward to being free from the constraints of the daily grind.

“I had plans to continue to travel for work but this prize has changed everything for me,” he said.

“I honestly think I might just stay here and retire.

“Australia is my home!”

His winning entry was purchased at Lindfield Newsagency, 3 Lindfield Avenue, Lindfield.

Lindfield Newsagency owner Constatine Mastrantonas said he couldn’t believe he helped change the life of one local customer by selling an Oz Lotto ticket worth $30 million.

“It’s unreal! This is the biggest prize we’ve ever sold at Lindfield Newsagency and it was only last week that I was thinking it's about time we sell another division one winning entry,” he said.

“The last division one winning entry we sold was in Monday & Wednesday Lotto many years ago and it was worth $1 million.

“I had the pleasure of talking to the winner recently after he discovered the win, and I couldn’t be happier for him. It’s wonderful that the win has gone to a local customer that has supported us.

“A big congratulations to the winning man and we wish him all the best with his prize!”

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1548 on Tuesday 17 October 2023 were 21, 23, 18, 39, 14, 33, 46, while the supplementary numbers were 37, 41 and 28.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1548 – one in New South Wales.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 327 so far in 2023, including 103 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In FY23, 15 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across Australia collectively won more than $303.28 million.
