A Lane Cove woman has vowed to still go to work today despite discovering she became an overnight Powerball multi-millionaire while having her breakfast.
The New South Wales winner held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1304, drawn Thursday 13 May 2021. She takes home the entire $30 million jackpot.
She is the seventh Powerball division one winner so far in 2021. The win also confirms New South Wales’ Powerball winning streak – with five of those seven division one wins coming from the state.
However, an early night meant the winner missed calls from The Lott after last night’s draw attempting to confirm her win, leaving her to discover her new multi-millionaire status over her cereal and coffee this morning.
“Is this for real?!” she exclaimed when speaking to an official from The Lott early this morning.
“I’d seen the missed calls and wondered what was going on. Then I’ve just checked the app.
“I can’t believe it!
“I don’t know what to think. Thank you so much.
“We were just having breakfast and getting ready to go to work. We’ll still go to work today – don’t you worry about that! We’ll power on!
“Honestly, this is a lot to take in first thing in the morning.
“I’m shaking and I’m a bit butterfingers now. It’s a bit of a shock!
“I like to play Powerball each week. This most definitely is the biggest prize I’ve ever won.”
When asked how she imagined she’d use her $30 million prize, the stunned woman admitted plans would have to wait until after she finished her breakfast.
“I honestly don’t know at the moment. It just seems unreal,” she said.
“I need to finish my cereal and coffee and then think about it all.
“This makes a massive difference for my family. We’ll remember this day for a while, that’s for sure!”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her winning 36-game QuickPick online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1304 on Thursday 13 May 2021 were 7, 19, 11, 12, 5, 25 and 8. The all-important Powerball number was 20.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1304 – the entry from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 160 so far this calendar year, including 41 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In 2020, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $470.1 million in prize money.
In 2020, Powerball twice offered an $80 million jackpot – the biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game during the year.
Of the 14 Powerball division one winning entries in 2020, six landed in Queensland, five in New South Wales and three in Victoria.
