A Queanbeyan woman is thanking a last-minute decision to pick up an Instant Scratch-Its ticket, after it led to a mouth-watering $100,000 top prize win.
The top prize winning $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Blooms the Chemist Karabar, Shop 6, Karabar Shopping Mall, Queanbeyan.
This morning an official from the Lott spoke to the winning woman, who relayed the moment she made her exciting discovery.
“I was out getting some pizza and I was just waiting until it was done, so I went in and got a scratchie to pass the time,” she explained.
“I was so shocked when I saw I had won. I ran back into the shop and the lady there just looked at the ticket and then back at me, and we just stared at each other for a while.
“She couldn’t confirm what the prize was, but I knew I had won something good!
“I was so overwhelmed. I didn’t know how to feel!
“I went back home after that and I told my family. I could not stop shaking.
“It still doesn’t feel real.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the overwhelmed winner said she was still trying to comprehend the news.
“We’ve been going through a bit of a rough time lately, so the timing couldn’t be better,” she shared.
“There’s a lot I need to do with it, but I am sure I will find something fun to do as well.”
Blooms the Chemist Karabar manager Reeta Ramasamy said she couldn’t be happier for her winning customer.
“It is very, very exciting!” she said.
“We are so happy for our winner, especially during these tough times. We can only imagine how thrilled she must be.
