A Leichhardt woman is ready to pay off her children’s mortgages and renew her long-forgotten passport after scoring a life-changing $20 million in last night’s Powerball draw.
The Ipswich resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Powerball draw 1506, drawn Thursday 27 March 2025. She can look forward to a glorious $20 million.
When an official from The Lott called the unsuspecting winner this morning to confirm the multi-million-dollar news, she was left speechless.
“Oh my god! Oh my god! You’re joking?!” she gasped.
“How does this happen? Oh, my goodness. I don’t know what to say.
“I’m shaking. Thank you so much.
“I don’t play every week, but when I do, I usually check in the morning. I sometimes win small amounts like $11 here and there, but I can’t believe I’ve just won $20 million!”
Despite the whirlwind of emotions, the gleeful winner already had a plan for her newfound fortune.
“I’ll be seeking financial advice right away!” she said.
“I can pay off my children’s mortgages, and I might finally take a holiday! I haven’t had one in years.
“My passport must be expired. I’ll have to get it renewed!”
Her winning 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1506 on Thursday 27 March 2025 were 11, 7, 21, 17, 9, 13 and 24. The all-important Powerball number was 11.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1506 – the entry from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 346 so far in FY25, including 86 won by Golden Casket customers.
In 2024, 21 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $773 million in prize money.
During this time, Powerball offered a $200 million jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150 million became the nation’s biggest individual lottery winner.
Of the 21 Powerball division one winning entries in 2024, 11 landed in New South Wales, six in Queensland, two in Victoria and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
