Retirement is suddenly around the corner for a Leichhardt woman who will be using her $50,000 Instant Scratch-Its win to kick off her long-awaited departure from work.
The top prize winning $4 ticket was purchased at Leichhardt Marketplace Newsagency, Shop 44, 138 Flood Street, Leichhardt.
Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the Sydney woman explained she wouldn’t quite believe her winning news until she saw her bank balance balloon.
“I buy the same scratchies every fortnight,” she explained.
“When I got home from shopping, I scratched them and the $4 one was the last one I scratched.
“I didn’t believe it! I was in such a state of shock.
“I had to wake my son up to double-check it.
“This all happened only a couple of days after my birthday. It was such a lovely birthday present!
“I don’t think I’ll really believe it until I see the money in my account.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the ecstatic winner said it would allow her to slow down.
“I’m far too old to be working now,” she laughed.
“I’m going to retire a little earlier. It will be nice not to have to go to work after all these years!”
