A young Liverpool dad is making exciting plans for his family’s future after today discovering he was last week’s $200,000 Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot winner.
The happy dad held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1116, drawn Wednesday 8 August 2018.
Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this afternoon to confirm his win, the man recounted the moment he discovered he was $200,000 richer, a week after the draw.
“I decided to take my kids to get milkshakes this morning and I thought I would check my old lottery tickets and buy some new ones,” he explained.
“I didn’t think I had won when I scanned my ticket, I just thought I had won some free tickets and that’s why it wouldn’t scan.
“I wasn’t expecting this! Two hundred thousand dollars - wow! I am quite shocked.
“I am shaking. I am so excited.
“Thank you so much for this, it is going to give my family a head start!
“This will help so much. It’s beautiful, such a great time.”
When asked how he planned to spend his windfall, the ecstatic dad admitted his win had come at a great time for his family.
“I need to discuss it all with my wife,” he said.
“We will put a deposit on a house, we have been wanting to do that.
“I have always wanted a boat too, and a quiet weekend away would be great.
“But the money is for our kids. Everything we do is for them, so that will be the main priority - setting them up.
“It will be nice to celebrate tonight. It will be a quiet one at home with the family but we will have a good dinner.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry from Hinchinbrook Newsagency, Shop 27, The Valley Plaza, 189 Wilson Road, Hinchinbrook.
Hinchinbrook Newsagency manager Joanne Quach said the outlet was thrilled the winner had finally been united with their prize.
“Oh wow! That is so exciting,” she said.
“I am so very happy for them. It is really great for them.
“It is great telling customers we’ve sold a winning entry!”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $17.08 million for draw 1118 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $1.41 million for draw 10242.
