A Liverpool woman’s belief in buying a lottery ticket whenever she’s away from home has turned into the ultimate holiday surprise, landing her a $200,000 win in a recent Lucky Lotteries draw.
The New South Wales resident held the 1st prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries draw 1781, drawn Monday 23 March 2026. She’s set to be paid her $200,000 prize just days after Easter.
As the ticket wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, lottery officials had been unable to contact the elusive winner. Instead, they had been eagerly waiting for the ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward.
“Oh my gosh! I’m still shaking from the news,” she said when an official from The Lott rang to confirm her prize.
“I can’t believe I didn’t register my ticket. I was away for the weekend.
“My mum always said, ‘Buy a lottery ticket when you’re somewhere different.’.
“So, whenever we’re away, we always duck in and get a ticket. We like to see if somewhere else might bring us some luck rather than our local area.
“I honestly can’t believe it.”
The gleeful woman shared the prize had come at a great time and would allow her to give back to her closest charities.
“I will absolutely share it. I know exactly who I want to support with a few of my favourite charities,” she revealed.
“I’m so proud to be able to give back to Surf Life Saving Australia and Orange Sky laundry to name a few. It warms my heart.
“I’ve also been having so many car issues lately, so it might be time for an upgrade!
“I think it’ll also help my speed up my retirement. It’s just amazing!”
Her winning entry was purchased at Warilla Grove Newsagency, Shop 9B, Warilla Grove Shopping Centre, 43-57 Shellharbour Road, Warilla.
Warilla Grove Newsagency manager Jodie Spencer shared she was so excited to hear someone had purchased a $200,000 winning ticket from her outlet.
“It’s so exciting to be a part of someone’s winning moment. It’s great to see we’ve sold a winning ticket that delivered a customer a $200,000 win,” she said.
“It’s been a while since our last major prize, and we couldn’t be more excited to do it again.
“We’ll be sharing the news with all our customers that come in and decorate the store.
“I have no doubt this is going to bring a lot of excitement to our local community and spread a little hope.
“Congratulations! We’re all very excited for you and wish you all the best.”
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $1.24 million for draw 1782, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.67 million for draw 11066.
Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
