A Glengowrie man is seeing a brighter future ahead, as he plans to use his recent $200,000 Keno win to finally get the laser eye surgery he's been dreaming about.
The Adelaide resident scored the Keno Spot 8 jackpot in draw 250523 876, drawn Friday 23 May 2025 and pocketed $200,000.
The winning entry wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, which means officials from The Lott had to wait for the ticketholder to check their ticket and come forward to claim the prize.
The winning man had his best mate to thank, who let him know about the win after he had already left the venue.
“I didn’t believe it,” he laughed while speaking to an official from The Lott.
“I had already left the venue and one of my friends rang me. He told me that I had won the jackpot prize, and I told him that he was talking rubbish!
“He then put the manager on the phone who told me about the win. I ordered an Uber straight away, and I went back to the venue to check.
“I couldn’t believe it. It’s certainly not something you expect to happen to you.
“I’ve won $32,000 in Keno before but nothing like this!
“The first thing I’ll be doing is getting laser eye surgery. I won’t have to wear glasses anymore, and I’ll see better for work. It’s great!
“Thank you very much.”
His winning entry was purchased at Morphett Arms Hotel, 138 Morphett Road, Glengowrie.
In 2024, there were more than 5.6 million Keno wins across South Australia worth more than $130 million. This included 40 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who scored more than $6.49 million.
The Spot 10 prize was won three times during this period, including a $2.26 million prize won by a Paralowie woman keen to use her good fortune to help others and causes close to her heart.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 10 prize, a player must match all 10 of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
