A Nowra family are ready to break their diets to celebrate their private syndicate winning $800,000, after scoring division one in last night’s Wednesday Lotto draw.
The New South Wales players held one of five division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3977, drawn Wednesday 27 May 2020, and take home a division one prize of $800,000.
As well as winning division one, the private syndicate also won division three 12 times and division four 15 times, boosting their total prize to $805,145.45.
This morning an official from the Lott called the syndicate leader, who relayed the moment he discovered their ticket had won division one.
“Magnificent,” he laughed.
“I checked the numbers late last night. I thought ‘crickey, they can’t be my numbers!’.
“I checked my ticket so many times to make sure it was real.
“It was a very good surprise. This is actually a private syndicate with my family.
“We have been playing these same numbers for years.
“I called them last night to break the news! As you can imagine they were shocked!
“I think we will definitely need to celebrate. We will have a bit of a shindig this weekend with the family. We will have a BBQ and some beers.
“I only just went on a diet too! But I think this is a good reason to break my diet and celebrate.”
When asked how each private syndicate member planned to enjoy their prize, the overjoyed man said they had spent the morning making plans.
“We are all going to put our prizes towards our mortgages,” he explained.
“Then there’s a few other little things we want to do, just to spoil ourselves.”
The family, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their marked System entry at Sturgiss Newsagency, 110-112 Junction Street, Nowra.
Sturgiss Newsagency store manager said she couldn’t be happier for her winning customers.
“We are very excited,” she said.
“We will be celebrating with all of our staff and customers.
“Nowra is a tight knit community, so we are so happy to have sold a winning ticket here.
“We have sold quite a few division one winning entries over the years, our most recent was last year.
“Congratulations to our winners! We hope this win can help make all of your dreams come true.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3977 on Wednesday 27 May 2020 were 35, 19, 8, 9, 23 and 31 while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 40.
Across Australia, there were five division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3977 – three from Queensland and one each from Victoria and New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 146 so far this calendar year, including 37 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In 2019, there were 108 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $106 million.
