For the first time in more than five years, the jackpot prize for Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot has cracked the $20 million mark.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $20.2 million for draw 1131.
The last time the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize surpassed $20 million was in August 2013.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Bronnie Spencer said time is of the essence when it comes to buying tickets.
“Unlike other lottery games, there is only a limited number of tickets available in each Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw, which means players need to get in quick if they want a chance to win the $20 million prize in the upcoming draw,” she said.
“The draw will take place as soon as all the tickets are sold – and that won’t take long!
“As the jackpot prize has drawn closer and closer to $20 million, more and more people are playing Lucky Lotteries.
“We’ve had 11 draws in the past month alone!
“And if it isn’t won in the next draw, we expect there to be up to three draws a week!
“While every draw guarantees more than 10,000 winners, it’s been a while since someone has landed the jackpot prize.”
Ms Spencer explained the last time someone won the entire jackpot prize in a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw was in January 2017 when a young woman from Rydalmere in Sydney’s north-west took home $7.48 million.
The multi-million-dollar winning entry in draw 1050, drawn on 10 January 2017, was purchased from Rhodes News, Shop 2B in the Rhodes Waterside Shopping Centre, 1 Rider Boulevade, Rhodes.
The winner’s reaction when a NSW Lotteries official called to confirm the life-changing news was priceless:
“Oh no! I’m hyperventilating! I’m shaking! I don’t know what is happening! Is it a big prize? We’ve been struggling a lot, please tell me?” the woman quizzed.
“You are kidding me? Oh my gosh! No way! Am I dreaming? This is absolutely surreal!”
This calendar year alone, players in New South Wales have secured more than $11.8 million in Lucky Lotteries prize money.
