With the news of their million-dollar win from last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw still ringing in their ears, a hardworking Maitland couple are now excitedly planning their wedding.
The engaged couple held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3778 on Monday 2 July 2018. It scored the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
It’s the second time in three days a Maitland entry has won a Lotto division one prize.
When a NSW Lotteries official first contacted the couple this morning to deliver their dream-come-true news, the winning man refused to believe he’d become an overnight millionaire.
“I thought it was a prank!” the man later explained after checking his ticket himself.
“We were only talking about winning Lotto this morning and then you called. I thought it was a joke.
“Woohoo! It’s unbelievable!”
“We’re going to get married. He’s been waiting to buy an engagement ring and now we can,” the happy woman added.
The regular Lotto players explained they had marked their winning entry using family birthdates and other special numbers. The loved-up couple also have each other firmly at the top of their respective Lotto Lists.
“We’re going to get married and buy a house. We’re also so excited for a long-overdue holiday!” the winning woman shared.
“It’s a blur but it’s just wonderful.”
The couple were thrilled to receive Maitland’s second division one prize in three days.
“There must be something in the water,” the winning woman laughed.
On the weekend, a Maitland grandmother won a division one prize of $2,070,113.85 in Saturday Lotto.
The pair, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their marked 6-game entry at Priceline Pharmacy Maitland, Shop 15, Pender Place, 44 Elgin Street, Maitland.
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto have created 99 millionaires across Australia.
The six winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3778 on Monday 3 July 2018 were 5, 33, 21, 2, 22 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 26 and 23.
Across Australia, there was only one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3778 – the entry from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 202 so far this calendar year, including 50 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
Last financial year, there were 73 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won $73 million.
