Santa was especially generous to a Marrickville dad this year, delivering a $20 million Oz Lotto division one prize on Christmas Eve.
The Sydney player held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Oz Lotto draw 1349, drawn Tuesday 24 December 2019. He takes home the entire division one prize of $20 million.
However, the man in his 40s only discovered his life-changing fortune this morning when a NSW Lotteries official made contact with him to confirm the win.
“Oh wow!” he laughed when the multi-million-dollar Oz Lotto prize was revealed.
“I had no idea I had won on Christmas Eve! I’m speechless. I’m a bit shaky actually. I’m just speechless.
“It’s a very nice Christmas gift! It’s the best present!
“It’s been an ok year, but this really caps it off perfectly. This news is definitely the best way to finish off the year.
“This will be hard to top next Christmas!”
The New South Welshman held the 13th Oz Lotto division one winning entry so far in 2019. These 13 Oz Lotto division one winning entries have collectively won $320 million.
But the chuckling man admitted he almost didn’t answer the phone call from NSW Lotteries that confirmed his $20 million Oz Lotto win.
“Thanks for this phone call, I really appreciate it,” he said.
“When the phone rang, I was thinking ‘should I answer this call?’. At this point in time, I’m really glad I answered.”
So overwhelmed by the revelation, the new multi-millionaire confessed he couldn’t yet turn his mind to how he would use his mammoth prize.
“I’m still thinking is someone trying to play a trick on me?” he laughed.
“I’m in a bit of a daze!
“I can’t even think what we’ll do with it.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m just thinking ‘is this true what I’m hearing?’.
“I think things will change a bit for me and my family in 2020. It won’t change all of a sudden, but we’ll ease into it. We’re in for a fantastic year.
“I can’t wait to tell my family. Oh mate, they won’t believe it.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 17 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $334 million. During this time, the biggest Oz Lotto jackpot was $80 million on 25 June 2019, which was won by two division one winning entries that took home $40 million each.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1349 on Tuesday 25 December 2019 were 21, 32, 29, 28, 22, 20 and 5. The supplementary numbers were 45 and 41.
Across Australia, there was only one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1349 – an entry from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 367 so far this calendar year, including 112 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
