Menai retiree’s night takes unexpected turn with $100,000 lottery win

A Menai retiree might not have won big in the Powerball draw, but she was pleasantly surprised to discover her life-enhancing $100,000 win in the recent Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw.

The Sutherland Shire resident held the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10531, drawn Thursday 24 February 2022.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the euphoric woman admitted she discovered her good fortune before going to bed last night.

“Oh, thank you! I still can’t believe it!” she laughed.

“I checked my Powerball entry on The Lott app straight after the draw last night to see how I went. I didn’t win much and thought, ‘Oh well’.

“But right before I was going to close The Lott app, I suddenly realised I had entries into other lottery games with Lucky Lotteries being one of them.

“I’d opened the entry and I couldn’t believe it. My initial reaction was, ‘What! That’s a lot of zeros! I had to do a double take.

“I went straight to my husband, and he was shocked as well!

“I haven’t won anything this big in my entire life. It’s the most I’ve ever won, and I’ve been playing for a long time, so it’s nice to see!”

While the wondrous prize offers the potential for a new car or a holiday, the New South Wales player confessed she was too stunned to make any concrete plans at this stage.

“It’s all still sinking in, but I know the prize will be very useful and a big help,” she said.

Her winning entry of two random numbers was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $7.49 million for draw 1562, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $7.92 million for draw 1.

In 2021, 127 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $32.95 million.

During this time, the biggest Lucky Lotteries prize was won by a Coolangatta man who a Mega Jackpot prize of $9.41 million in May.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.
