A Merriwa shopper has received a welcome boost to their bank account this week after they scratched one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1.10 Raining Cash Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The happy winner purchased their winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket from Merriwa Newsagency, 155 Bettington Street, Merriwa.
Collecting their top prize from NSW Lotteries this week, the winner shared their surprise at revealing the three symbols on their ticket that delivered the $10,000 instant windfall.
While some celebrations are no doubt planned, exactly how the winner will use their prize will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Matt Hart said the Merriwa winner was one of the dozens of happy Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners from New South Wales during recent months.
“Many winners tell us when they first reveal a top prize, they don’t believe their eyes and check it over and over again to make sure,” he said.
“But once the prize hits their bank account, they know it’s real and use it to enjoy a holiday, buy a new car, or even pay off part of the mortgage. One winner even told us he bought several Dyson vacuum cleaners – one for each of his friends.”
Merriwa Newsagency team member Libby Cashen said she was delighted to discover her outlet had sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets.
“Lucky them!” she exclaimed.
“I hope it was me that sold it to them.
“It’s always great to hear when one of our customers wins and we wish this winner all the very best with their prize. I hope they’ve got something nice planned for it!”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
