A Cannon Hill woman says her week has been turned around in the best way possible after winning $10,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning $1 Beehive Bucks Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Cannon Hill, Shop 5, Kmart Plaza, Corner of Wynnum Road and Creek Road, Cannon Hill.
Confirming her win with an official from the Lott this morning, the woman explained the incredible news was still sinking in.
“It still feels surreal!” she laughed.
“Earlier this week I picked up a couple of $1 scratchies and scratched them when I got home.
“When I got to the third ticket, I had a hard look at it and thought it couldn’t be right!
“I raced straight down to the newsagency before it closed and they confirmed the win for me.
“It was so exciting! I couldn’t believe it.
“Wow. Just wow. That’s all I could think.
“It was amazing!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant windfall, the Brisbane resident said while travel plans were on hold, she’d use it to get ahead.
“Because we can’t travel at the moment, I will put it towards the mortgage,” she explained.
“But hopefully one day soon we will be able to go on a big holiday.
“It’s come at a great time. I’m very grateful!”
Nextra Cannon Hill owner Tony Sammon said the outlet had been on a winning streak.
“We’ve had a few big wins here for our customers lately,” he said.
“We certainly hope this continues for the outlet and for our local community.
“Congratulations to our latest winner. We hope she enjoys her prize!”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
