Forget love notes, long stemmed red roses and boxes of chocolates this Valentine’s Day, according to Aussie lottery winners the ultimate romantic gesture is being able to spoil their loved ones with their division one prize.

Ahead of this weekend’s $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw, the Lott has revealed the most amorous division one winners of the past 12 months.

From on-the-spot proposals to anniversary dates inspiring winning numbers, lottery players across the country have proven to be red-blooded romantics.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said with new millionaires set to be crowned in 2019’s first $20 million Superdraw this Saturday, aspiring winners might spend Valentine’s Day contemplating how they would treat their better half.

“In 2018, the seven Saturday Lotto Superdraws created 61 millionaires across the country. We can only imagine how those newly minted millionaires wowed their significant others,” she said.

“When we break the life-changing news to our division one winners the first thing so many tell us is they can’t wait to treat their wife, husband or partner.”

If the Romeos and Juliets of the country need a little inspiration on how to sweep their loved ones off their feet, look no further than the Lott’s most romantic division one winners of 2018.

“There’s been some truly amazing grand gestures from our division one winners in 2018,” Ms Cooney shared.

“Wedding bells instantly started ringing the moment we told a Maitland couple they’d won $1 million in Monday & Wednesday Lotto in July.

“The couple had just become engaged and they told us the first thing they’d do with their windfall was buy a dream engagement ring and plan the ultimate wedding and honeymoon.

“Meanwhile, it’s hard to beat the sentiment some of our loved-up lottery winners have for their partners.

“When one of our recent division one winners told her husband she’d just won the lottery one he turned to her and said ‘I already won the lottery when I met you.’.

“One of my favourite winners of 2018 was man from Ringwood who won $7.5 million in Oz Lotto.  He’d just tied the knot with his wife and revealed the wedding celebrations and honeymoon would continue for the rest of their lives.”

Ms Cooney added special anniversary dates had delivered the winning numbers and incredible windfalls to some couples celebrating special occasions.

“In May a Victorian couple celebrated a wedding anniversary unlike any other, winning Set for Life not once but twice!” she explained.

“In what turned out to be an incredible declaration of love, the wife decided she’d celebrate their anniversary by purchasing two Set For Life entries, for herself and her husband, with the same marked numbers based on the couple’s anniversary and other special dates.

“Remarkably, these numbers we’re drawn on the night of their anniversary. Now the couple is enjoying receiving $40,000 a month for the next 20 years.”

With the $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw on Saturday 16 February, Ms Cooney urged players who wanted to spoil their significant other to make sure they grabbed a registered entry into the draw.

“Imagine how you could treat your sweetheart or declare your love for someone with a share of $20 million dollars!” she exclaimed.

“Make sure you grab a registered entry so we can call you with the life-changing news!”

Tickets in the Lott’s $20 million Saturday Superdraw are on sale now and can be purchased until 7:30pm AEST on Saturday 16 February 2018 from any official lottery outlet, online from thelott.com, or via thelott app.
