A Moorooka retiree says she hopes her $10,000 Instant Scratch-Its win is a sign that her good fortune is changing, explaining it’s the first time she’s won anything in her life.
The top prize winning $1 ticket was purchased at Moorvale News, Shop 2, 186 Beaudesert Road, Moorooka.
Sharing her excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the woman explained she had the surprise of her life when she scratched the winning ticket.
“It was the best!” she exclaimed.
“It was such a nice surprise. It really was.
“I was incredibly excited.
“I’ve never won anything in my life, not even a chook raffle, so I feel as though I really deserve this!
“I scratched the ticket at the newsagency, I thought I’d won $1,000 and I was thrilled when they told me it was $10,000!”
When asked how she thought she may enjoy her instant prize, the winner explained she needed to let the news sink in.
“I’m still not sure,” she laughed.
“I need to think about it. I will likely put it away for now and save it for a rainy day.”
Moorvale News owner Edwin Chen said it was exciting to be part of his customer’s winning moment.
“I was so surprised when I served her and scanned the winning ticket,” he explained.
“She was so happy when we explained that she’d won $10,000.
“We haven’t sold a top prize winning ticket in store for a little while so it’s great to see one of our customers win big.
“Congratulations to her!”
In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
