A young mum from Mount Pleasant is looking forward to planning for the future after scratching one of the top prizes of $100,000 on a $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The happy winner purchased her winning ticket after a long day at work from Wendouree Newsagency, 1215A Howitt Street, Wendouree.

“I only buy scratchies every now and then and I had just finished work so I popped into the newsagency to pick up a couple,” she explained.

“I went home and started scratching them and I just kept seeing more and more panels being scratched off. I couldn’t believe it.

“I thought I had only won $10,000 but then I double checked and I had won the big one!

“I was so excited. To be honest I was crying! The first thing I did was call my Mum!”

When asked how the she planned to spend her Instant Scratch-Its windfall the thrilled winner revealed she had already made some exciting plans for the future.

“I’ve been eyeing off a new car! I’ve got two kids so I need something reliable I can fit us all in to get around,” she said.

“The rest I’ll bank away for a house deposit. It will go a long way to setting us up for the future.”

The winner also revealed her winning celebrations began after she recovered from the initial shock of the win.

“I went into the newsagency to check my ticket and they told me they thought it was a big one!” she said.

“So I headed into the city to claim the prize and then afterwards we went out and had a great day in the city – including a few drinks to celebrate!”

Wendouree Newsagency owner Kate McDonald said she was thrilled to have been there when the customer came in to check her top prize winning ticket.

“We were just thrilled for her!” she exclaimed.

“She is a very deserving winner and we are so pleased a local and a regular customer has won a top prize.

“It’s certainly giving us a big buzz here at the outlet.

“We’ve sold a few division one prizes in the past but this is the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its I can remember!”
