A man from the town of Burra has confessed he feels shellshocked after a chance check of his Oz Lotto ticket revealed he was the $50 million winner lottery officials had been looking for.

The South Australian entry was the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1608, drawn Tuesday 10 December 2024.

If he had registered his ticket to The Lott Members Club, officials from The Lott would have been able to reach out to him immediately after the draw last night to confirm the life-changing news. Instead, officials had to eagerly wait for the ticketholder to check their entry and come forward to claim their prize.

“I’m not bad! Not bad all!” the winner exclaimed while speaking to an official from The Lott moments after he had discovered his multi-million-dollar win.

“It’s f***ed! I can’t believe it.

“I just checked the ticket. Oh my god!

“I didn’t even know the Oz Lotto jackpot had been won and there was a winner. I just came in to check my ticket.

“It’s unbelievable! I’m shellshocked!

“It’s massive! Oh f***!

“Oh my god. I can’t believe it. I was just saying to myself this morning, $50,000 would be alright heading into Christmas but $50 million!”

When asked how he might best enjoy his Oz Lotto bounty, the stunned winner confessed he was too overwhelmed to make any firm plans.

“This does absolutely everything for me. Absolutely everything,” he said.

“I’ll treat myself and help my family.

“I don’t think I’ll work again. I think my workdays are done.”

The man’s winning entry was purchased at Burra Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy, 4 Market Square, Burra.

Burra Terry White Chemmart Pharmacy retail manager Kelly Bray said she was celebrating her outlet selling its first division one winning entry.

“Oh my god! I can’t believe it! It’s incredible!” she said.

“I can’t stop shaking and I didn’t even win it.

“It’s such big news for our pharmacy and for Burra!

“I’m so stoked for our winner and wish him all the very best with his prize.”

It’s the second-biggest win to land in South Australia in 2024. In May this year, the state welcomed Australia’s biggest individual lottery winner, an Adelaide man who pocketed a $150 million Powerball prize.

In addition to the division one winning entry, there were 719,479 prizes worth more than $67 million in divisions two to seven. This included 10 division two winners who each took home $62,689.10.

The Lott reminds players of the importance of registering their tickets to The Lott Members Club, so all of their prizes are secure and they can be contacted directly with the good news of a big win.

The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1608 on Tuesday 10 December 2024 were 1, 29, 20, 23, 34, 46 and 39, while the supplementary numbers were 42, 43 and 24.

Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1608 – the entry from South Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 418 so far in 2024, including 29 won by SA Lotteries customers.

In FY24, 16 Oz Lotto division one winning across Australia collectively won more than $323 million.

During this time, Oz Lotto offered a $90 million jackpot – the second biggest in the game’s 30-year history – which was shared by three New South Wales winners.

Of the 16 Oz Lotto division one winning entries in FY24, 10 landed in New South Wales, three in Queensland, and one each Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.
