A Dubbo couple have unknowingly sat on a $100,000 Lucky Lotteries win for nearly two weeks after stashing the ticket on their fridge and completely forgetting about it.

The Orana residents held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10980, drawn Friday 16 May 2025. They can look forward to a total prize of $100,000.

When an official from The Lott called to confirm the winning news, the joyful duo relived the thrilling moment they checked their ticket.

“We can’t believe it!” the winning couple cheered.

“Oh honestly, we’re just over the moon right now.

“I have a bad habit of collecting tickets on my fridge and waiting until they pile up to go and check them.

“I usually like to check my tickets myself, but when I finally checked this one at a newsagency, it told me I needed to go up to the lottery counter.

“When I went up to the counter, they told me how the terminal had locked, and how I’d have to call The Lott. That’s when I knew it was serious.

“Now we’re on the phone to you, and you’re telling us we won $100,000.”

The overwhelmed duo shared they’d need some time for the win to sink in before making any firm decisions.

“Oh look, we’re going to need some time to let the dust settle. Right now, it isn’t sinking in,” the winning wife shared.

“We’ll probably look at paying off our mortgage and going away for a while.”

Their winning entry was purchased at Newsextra on Macquarie, 117 Macquarie Street, Dubbo.

Newsextra on Macquarie manger Leanne Ferguson said she was excited to hear a local player had won $100,000 from a ticket purchased at her outlet.

“I’m a little bit dumbfounded but so excited to hear we’ve had a major lottery win!” she said.

“Our last major lottery win was back in 2019, so it feels like it’s about time our community had another one.

“We will certainly be celebrating the news in-store with lots of balloons and signs.

“We hope our winner enjoys all their prize has to offer.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $6.28 million for draw 1704, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $19.61 million for draw 10991.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
