A Singleton woman’s morning drive shifted gears when a radio announcement about an unclaimed Lucky Lotteries ticket in her area led her to the jaw-dropping discovery that she was the $200,000 mystery winner.

The Hunter Valley resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1706, drawn Wednesday 9 July 2025. She looks forward to a sweet $200,000 prize.

When an official from The Lott confirmed the winning news, the stunned woman relived the thrilling moment she uncovered her win.

“I’m still in shock. I never thought someone like me could win it!” she gasped.

“I’ve been playing Lucky Lotteries for years now, and this is by far my biggest win.

“It’s funny, I’d completely forgotten about the ticket until I heard on the radio that there was a mystery winner in draw 1706 from the Singleton area.

“I turned to my hubby and told him, ‘I was in that one. I should check my ticket!’.

“We drove straight to our local newsagency, and when we checked the ticket, the staff told us that they couldn’t pay it there.

“Now we’re on the phone to you, and you’re telling me we won $200,000! It’s crazy.

“Thank goodness I was listening to the radio at the right time. Imagine if I completely forgot to check it.”

With $200,000 soon to boost her bank account, the delighted winner looked forward to booking a long-awaited overseas getaway and celebrating with close family.

“We’d love to go on a trip sometime soon. New Zealand has been on our bucket list for some time, so hopefully we can make it there,” she said.

“I’ve also told the whole family to come over and I’ll shout them some Chinese.”

The winning entry was purchased at Singleton Mall Newsagency, Shop 23B Mall Shopping Centre, 1 Gowrie Street, Singleton.

Singleton Mall Newsagency manager Kevin Zhang shared he was excited his team had sold a winning ticket worth $200,000 to one of their customers.

“I was thrilled to hear we played a role in selling such a large prize!” he exclaimed.

“I’m so glad to hear someone in our tight-knit local community has scored such an awesome prize.

“We sold a division one winning ticket in Weekday Windfall only a few months ago, so it seems like our newsagency is on a winning streak.

“We’ll be celebrating the win in store for weeks to come and urging our Lucky Lotteries players to check their tickets.

Congratulations to our winner. We hope you can take some time to celebrate and enjoy your great win.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $7 million for draw 1707, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $630,001 for draw 11029.

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number. If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won. If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.

Tickets can be purchased at any licenced lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via The Lott mobile app.
