A Newcastle mum is looking through the real estate ads, searching for the perfect first home after scratching one of the top prizes of $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $4 Cash Words ticket was purchased at Elermore Vale Newsagency, Shop 17-18 Elermore Vale Shopping Village, Elermore Vale.
Confirming her life-changing win with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the woman relived the heart-stopping moment she discovered her windfall.
“I just kept screaming when I realised what was in front of me!” she laughed.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had to re-check the ticket about a dozen times because I was so uncertain. I thought there could be no way I’d won $50,000.
“I had been on a bit of a winning streak with Instant Scratch-Its for a little while but I never expected to scratch such an amazing prize.
“It was the best surprise!”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her instant prize, the hardworking mum said it would go towards achieving a major goal.
“I’m going to buy myself a new car and pay a few bills,” she said.
“Then I will put the rest towards a deposit for my first home which I’ve been working towards for a long time.
“It’s definitely come at the best time!”
Elermore Vale Newsagency manager Kerrie Buckton said she was thrilled to see the top prize go to a local customer.
“It’s always so great to sell these winning tickets and even better when it goes to a local and regular player,” she said.
“She came in to visit us when she won and she was so happy, her excitement was infectious.
“Congratulations to her! She is very deserving.”
Between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, there were 118 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.14 million in top prizes.
During this same time, 4,182,602 winners pocketed more than $214.2 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
