A Tuncurry man skipped his morning coffee today after a life-changing phone call from The Lott announcing he’d won $1 million in Weekday Windfall was enough to wake him up.
The New South Wales resident held one of the two division one winning entries in Weekday Windfall draw 4649, drawn Friday 9 January 2026. He pocketed a clean $1 million.
The winning man was in complete awe of the thrilling news.
“My word! I have time for this call,” he laughed.
“That is lovely. That is just fantastic! I had absolutely no idea.
“That sounds very, very nice. I’ve been playing forever, and I never miss a week!
“We were just having a sleep in, but I can’t think of better news to wake up to today.
“I’m very awake now! Gosh what wonderful news.”
Amid the excitement, the gleeful man was too stunned to think of how he’d enjoy his prize.
“I’m in shock, so I’m having a bit of trouble thinking about what we’ll do,” he said.
“It’ll definitely help us a lot. Thank you so much.”
His winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased from RYFT Newsagency Forster, Shop 120 Stockland Forster, Breese Parade, Forster.
RYFT Newsagency Forster manager Stacie Wilkinsmith said she was over the moon to be a part of someone’s win.
“I instantly got very excited. It really makes you feel good knowing you played a part in making someone's dreams come true,” she said.
“Staff morale will be high! We will be enjoying the buzz it brings to the store when people find out we sold a division one winning ticket. There will be big smiles on our faces!
“It’s been two years since we last sold a division one winning entry . We’ve been saying we’re long overdue for another!”
The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4649 on Friday 9 January 2026 were 9, 15, 4, 36, 5 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 17.
