A South Brisbane man has knocked off early for the afternoon, unable to concentrate at work after checking his Saturday Gold Lotto entry on his lunch break and realising he was one of the weekend’s division one winners.
The south-east Queenslander held one of the seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4159, drawn Saturday 29 May 2021. Each division one winning entry took home $852,722.91.
Confirming the news with an official from The Lott this afternoon, the man explained he’d been busy at work and hadn’t noticed the missed calls.
“I think I’m a little stunned,” he managed eventually.
“I just checked my phone at lunch and saw your missed calls!
“I’m a little breathless.
“I’m stunned. I don’t know what to say.
“Wow. Wow!
“I think I’m going to need to take the afternoon off, there’s no way I’ll be able to keep concentrating at work.
“I always play the same numbers, I’ve been playing them for years and I can’t quite remember why I chose them.
“I can’t believe they’ve finally been drawn. This is outstanding!”
When asked what he thought he might do with his lottery fortune, he didn’t hesitate to reveal his plans.
“I just bought a house, so the timing is excellent,” he explained.
“I can go straight to the bank and say I don’t need their money anymore!
“I’ll certainly keep working for now but this will really set me up.
“Maybe I’ll even buy myself a new car.
“Thank you for the best call of my life!”
The life-changing marked System-9 entry was purchased online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4159 on 29 May 2021 were 42, 2, 7, 28, 16 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 22 and 35.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4159 – four in Queensland, two in Western Australia and one in Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 184 so far this calendar year, including 47 won by Golden Casket customers.
