An Oakey mum has confessed she couldn’t contain her excitement and danced around the room in pure joy upon discovering her phenomenal $50,000 win on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The $4 PengWIN Bingo Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Oakey Newsagency, 103 Campbell Street, Oakey.
The winning Queenslander admitted she felt a sense of relief after claiming her instant windfall as she had begun to question if she had misinterpreted the ticket.
“Oh my, I’m pretty shocked!” she laughed.
“The first thing I did was dance around the house. This is the most I’ve ever won, and I was very shocked.
“I received it as a birthday gift from my mum and I haven’t scratched an Instant Scratch-Its ticket in a very long time. My mum was saying that it will be hard to top next year’s birthday present.
“We were actually a bit nervous that we had scratched an additional number and had misread the ticket.
“We haven’t celebrated because we waited until we received confirmation from The Lott head office.
“I checked the ticket three times and then my husband also checked three times. I think we passed the ticket back and forth.
“We’ve been so startled by the win that we haven’t had a moment to decide what we’ll do with the prize but I’m sure it will go to good use!
“Thank you. Thank you.”
Oakey Newsagency manager Priyanka Patel said she was overjoyed to hear one of her local customers had picked up a $50,000 top prize win at her outlet.
“This is such wonderful news. We’ve been eagerly waiting to sell a top prize for a long time and many of our customers often ask us if we’ve sold a major lottery prize,” she said.
“Oakey is a small community and there’s no doubt that our locals will be thrilled to hear someone from the area has picked up a $50,000 win from their local newsagency.
“We wish them all the best with their prize and thank them for supporting us.”
In FY23, there were 147 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.1 million in top prizes.
