A Randwick nurse says she’s bidding farewell to dreaming about an overdue holiday and making plans for upcoming travel after winning one of the top prizes on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The life-changing $10 Live the Life ticket was purchased at Dundas Newsagency, 2 Station Street, Dundas.
An official from the Lott contacted the Sydney woman this morning, who was still struggling to comprehend the news she’d won one of the top prizes of $1,000 a week for the next ten years.
“I bought the scratchie last Thursday and I scratched it straight away,” she explained.
“I just thought ‘oh my gosh, is this really happening?’.
“I was initially in shock.
“I couldn’t believe it! I never win anything. It was amazing.
“I’m just so happy! I still can’t get over it. I am so excited.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the hardworking health care worker said it would take the pressure off in a big way.
“I’ve just bought a house,” she said.
“So this is going to help so much with the mortgage.
“I thought it would be awhile before I could save enough to go on a holiday again but now I will!”
Dundas Newsagency owner Ron Valle said it was exciting to know his customer had won a life-changing prize.
“That’s what we work towards, spreading the joy in the community,” he said.
“It’s a very good feeling knowing it’s gone to a local nurse, especially at the moment with everything going on.
“We really love knowing we’ve played a part in helping people’s dreams come true.
“Congratulations to her!”
In 2019, there were 199 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $9.7 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $208.8 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
