For the first time in almost eight months, Oz Lotto has climbed to a breathtaking $40 million for tonight’s draw, offering Aussies the chance to become a mid-week multi-millionaire.

The mounting jackpot comes after no entry has matched all seven winning numbers to take home the Oz Lotto division one prize during the past five weeks.

So far this year, only one entry has snared the coveted Oz Lotto division one jackpot – an entry held by a Bathurst couple who won $20 million in January.

This winning duo was oblivious to their good fortune for several days before a “funny feeling” prompted them to check their winning entry.

For those looking to become Oz Lotto’s second division one winner for 2019, the Lott can reveal the entry type that scored division one the most last year.

In 2018, there were 20 division one winning Oz Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $253.7 million.  One-in-five of these wins were from marked 18-game entries.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart added more than half of the Oz Lotto division one wins in 2018 came from marked entries.

“Whether it’s family birthdates, special numbers or just digits they’ve been playing for a long time, Oz Lotto winners tell us they use lots of methods to mark their entries,” he said.

“At the end of the day, whether you mark your entry or opt for an easy QuickPick, players need the seven winning numbers in a single game to walk away with tonight’s $40 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The last time Oz Lotto offered $40 million was in July 2018, but on that occasion it wasn’t won and the jackpot soared higher.

During the past decade, a $40 million Oz Lotto jackpot has been won 11 times, with 19 entries across the country sharing in an epic $440 million of division one prizemoney.

“In fact the last time a $40 million Oz Lotto jackpot was won was back in January 2018, when four division one winning entries took home a huge $10 million each,” Mr Hart said.

“One of these winners was a Gold Coast couple who didn’t discover their win until almost a week after the draw!

“The self-confessed grey nomads were travelling around Australia when they finally thought to check their Oz Lotto ticket that had been safely stored in their glove box.

“With their multi-million dollar fortune, they decided to upgrade the caravan and extend their Australian odyssey.”

Oz Lotto draw 1308 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Tuesday 12 March 2019.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 261 so far this financial year.

The sign of Australia’s Official Lotteries, the Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, 74 million winners took home a total of $2.7 billion in prize money from their favourite games which include Saturday Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno and Instant Scratch-Its.
