A Padstow man who had just won $200,000 took a little longer to discover his prize after his daughter declined the winning call from The Lott.

The Sydney resident won the 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1526, drawn Tuesday 6 April 2021.

Speaking with an official from The Lott this morning, the euphoric winner admitted he was still trying to comprehend the surprising news.

“When you initially called yesterday my daughter answered, but she thought it was just a scam,” he explained.

“She came over to me and said ‘we’ve just received a really weird call, but I don’t believe what they’re saying’.

“So we headed down to the newsagency to double-check, and my god, I was in shock.

“I didn’t know what to do or how to act.

“Things like this don’t happen to people like me!

“For me, it’s a lot of money, so I am still trying to get over the shock of it.

“This is good, really good.”

Although the news was still sinking in, the delighted man said he did have a few ideas for his prize.

“I will definitely share it with my family and spoil the kids,” he clarified.

“I wouldn’t mind going on a few holidays too.

“Most of it will go to the family, though and I am sure they will find lots of ways to enjoy it.

“We might have to go out for a celebratory breakfast tomorrow too!”

The winning entry of one number was purchased at Padstow Newsagency, 6 Padstow Parade, Padstow.

Padstow Newsagency owner Lin Yang said the outlet was in celebration mode after selling a major prize winning entry to a regular customer.

“It was very exciting,” she said.

“They came in yesterday to check their ticket and they couldn’t believe it!

“It was so nice to share in the excitement. We were just as happy as they were!

“We couldn’t be more pleased the prize has gone to a regular customer.

“Hopefully, we have some more major wins soon.”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $7.73 million for draw 1527, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $4.01 million for draw 10453.
