A Pambula retiree says he’s re-evaluating his retirement plans to include plenty of travel in his shiny new caravan after scratching one of the top prizes on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The Bega Valley local purchased his winning $5 Live the Life ticket at Pambula Newsagency, 23 Quondola Street, Pambula.
Sharing his exciting with an official from the Lott this morning, the regular player said he was still coming to terms with his prize of $1,000 a week for the next five years.
“I’ve had a rough couple of months and I thought I’d cheer myself up by getting a couple of scratchies,” he said.
“I took them home and scratched them straight away.
“When I got to the second one I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“I thought ‘there’s no way’!
“Then the newsagency owners double-checked it for me and sure enough.
“It’s unbelievable and massively life-changing!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the man explained his retirement was suddenly looking a whole lot different.
“I’m going to buy a new car and a shiny new caravan,” he declared.
“When the borders open up again, I will do plenty of travelling around the country in my van.
“That’s something I’ve always dreamt of doing and now I can!”
Pambula Newsagency owner Jason Buckmaster said he was thrilled to see one of his customers win a massive prize.
“It’s fantastic to see our locals walk away with these incredible prizes,” he said.
“We’ve sold four major prizes over the years and it’s a great feeling every time!
“Congratulations to our latest winner! We wish him all the best.”
