A Para Hills shopper who stopped to fuel up their car has driven away $10,000 richer after scratching one of the top prizes of $10,000 on a $1 Retro Riches Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning ticket was purchased at OTR Para Hills, 321 Bridge Road, Para Hills. It was one of two Instant Scratch-Its top prizes won across Adelaide during the past week.
Collecting their top prize from SA Lotteries today, the winner shared their surprise at revealing the three symbols on their ticket that delivered the $10,000 instant windfall.
While some celebrations are no doubt planned, exactly how the winner will use their prize will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous.
SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said the Para Hills winner was still marvelling at how a fuel stop turned into a $10,000 payday.
She said South Australian Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners often used their windfall in many surprising ways.
“Many winners tell us when they first reveal a top prize, they don’t believe their eyes and check it over and over again to make sure,” she said.
“But once the money hits their bank account, they know it’s real and use it to enjoy a holiday, buy a new car, or even pay off part of the mortgage. One winner even told us he bought several Dyson vacuum cleaners – one for each of his friends.”
Last financial year, there were 158 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.28 million.
