A Park Holme woman has confessed she nearly cried after discovering the half-torn lottery ticket destined for the bin was in fact a winning Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot entry worth $100,000.

The unregistered entry won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10244 on Friday 31 August 2018.

The winning ticket was not registered to an Easiplay Club card, so SA Lotteries officials had been unable to deliver the dream-come-true news.

When speaking with the happy woman this afternoon to confirm her win, the winner confessed to an SA Lotteries official that the delay in coming forward to claim the prize was due to her thinking her entry wasn’t a winner.

“I actually checked my ticket last Monday!” the winner exclaimed.

“I scanned it in the newsagency and it said the prize could not be paid. I thought to myself ‘Hmm, what’s that?’ I thought I would not worry about it and I would leave it.

“My daughter said ‘Oh well they aren’t winners, I’ll tear them up!’

“I said ‘Wait wait wait! They might win something, I’ll double check!

“I nearly cried when I checked it again later and it was a winner because it was a little bit ripped!”

The thrilled woman recounted how it felt once she had confirmed she was $100,000 richer.

“I was very happy!” she exclaimed.

“Once I discovered the win I didn’t know what to do! I didn’t know if I should tell my husband or anyone until it was claimed.

“It was the longest time I had kept a secret from my husband but once it was confirmed I told him and he said ‘Congratulations!’.”

When asked how she planned to spend her Lucky Lotteries windfall, the happy winner revealed she would put it to good use.

“I’m going to put some of it towards my daughter’s uni fees,” she said.

“I’ll use the rest to take my family on a holiday to Europe!”

The winning entry was purchased at Parkholme Newsagency Shop 12, Parkholme Shopping Centre, 319 Oaklands Road, Parkholme.
