An Instant Scratch-Its top prize win has come at the perfect time for a Wollongong player after they scratched $10,000 on a $1 ticket.
The winning $1 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Downtown Newsagency, 58 Crown Street, Wollongong.
How the winner plans to enjoy their windfall will forever remain a mystery as they have chosen to stay completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
Downtown Newsagency owner Noel Perry said he was thrilled to hear one of his customers had scored a major prize.
“Everyone around here could do with a bit of good news at the moment!” he exclaimed.
“We are so thrilled one of our customers has won $10,000.
“We’ll be sharing the news with all of our customers as they will be very happy to hear someone local has taken home this exciting prize.
“The last top prize we sold was a few years ago now, so we are extremely happy to have sold another one.
“Good luck to our winner! We hope they enjoy their prize!”
The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said the win had come at the perfect moment to brighten the day of the winner during uncertain times.
“While we may not know how our winner plans to enjoy their windfall, one thing is for certain, it has come at a perfect time,” she said.
“Imagine all the things they could do around their home if they are self-isolating, the trip they could plan for when they could travel again, or the relief this windfall would give them knowing they have a nest egg for the future.
“Other winners tell us they share their windfall with family, upgrade their cars or do renovations around the home.
“All of these things and more are possible thanks to our winner’s instant win.”
In 2019, there were 114 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $9.61 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 27.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $208.8 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
