Port Adelaide has a new millionaire, while three other Adelaide residents have pocketed tens of thousands of dollars from a quartet of Keno wins across the city during the past week.
The biggest win was on Friday 12 October 2018, when one Mansfield Park shopper picked up a Keno Spot 10 prize of $1,702,194.60 from an entry in draw 2420804 purchased at MJ’s Snackbar Deli, Shop 1, 86 Wilson Street, Mansfield Park.
The Mansfield Park newly-minted millionaire wasted no time in collecting their prize, presenting their winning ticket to an SA Lotteries official just hours later and expressing their shock at the surprise Friday payday.
“While the winner has chosen to remain completely anonymous, it’s fair to say they had a Friday to remember and no doubt celebrated their win over the weekend,” SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronnie Spencer said.
“The Mansfield Park win was the biggest of three major Keno prizes scored by South Australians during the past seven days. It’s also the first Keno Spot 10 win since February of this year. Back then, a Mawson Lakes shopper scooped a $1.4 million prize.”
MJ’s Snack Bar & Deli owner Thi Vo couldn’t contain her excitement at selling the winning Keno Spot 10 ticket – the first major lottery win since she took over management of the outlet.
“We’ve only been here about three months. So it’s our first Keno Spot 10 and our first big win,” she exclaimed.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw we had done it. I never thought I would sell such a big prize. It’s a dream come true!
“It’s made us so happy so I can’t imagine how the winner feels!”
Three Spot 8 wins for Adelaide in ten days
Completing the quartet of major Keno wins in Adelaide during the past ten days, a Glenelg player scored a Keno Spot 8 prize of $50,000 last night in draw 2422027. The winning entry was purchased at Glenelg Footballers Club, 68 Brighton Road, Glenelg.
The player is not registered to an Easiplay Club card so SA Lotteries officials are yet to break the life changing news and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.
Jarred Earl, gaming manager at Glenelg Footballers Club, said he was stoked one of his players had won a major prize.
“It is great to hear one of our patrons took home a Keno Spot 8 win!” he said.
“We hope they come forward soon to claim their prize so they can enjoy their $50,000 windfall.”
The win follows just three days after a Salisbury player scored a Keno Spot 8 prize of $100,000 on Friday 12 October 2018 in draw 2421021. The winning entry was purchased at Stockade Tavern, 2 Gawler Road, Salisbury.
Stockade Tavern gaming manager Tracey Mattner said she was thrilled the outlet had sold another Keno Spot 8 prize.
“That’s sensational!” she exclaimed.
“We’ve had a few big wins lately, including a Keno Spot 7 last week, so we are on a bit of a winning streak it seems.
“We are so pleased for our customer!”
Just days earlier, another Keno Spot 8 prize, this time worth $50,000, was won from an entry purchased at Elizabeth Nextra Express & Lotto, Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Nextra Express & Lotto team member Christine Jelisavac said the outlet was still celebrating the fact that one of its customers walked away $50,000 richer.
“It was just fantastic!” she said.
“The winner had actually just left the store but I saw there had been a win so I ran after them and flagged them down to let them know they’d won!
“It was an amazing feeling having one of our customers win so much.”
Last financial year, there were 19 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $4.52 million. Spot 10 was won twice during this time – a prize of more than $2.017 million in December 2017 and a prize of more than $1.474 million in April 2018.
Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
