A Port Adelaide shopper is ready to treat themselves today after scratching one of the top prizes of $10,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $1 Treat Yo Self Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Port Mall Lotteries & Newsagency, Shop 1 & 2, The Port Mall Shopping Centre, Port Adelaide.
However, how the winner plans to spend their $10,000 instant windfall will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
Port Mall Lotteries & Newsagency owners Phil Jenner and Leoni Jenner said they were thrilled to deliver a $10,000 win to one of their local customers.
“They were in store when they scratched the ticket and discovered they won,” Phil explained.
“Initially they thought they won $5,000 and were thrilled. Then they checked the ticket again and realised it was a $10,000 top prize!
“They were so excited and were jumping up and down. It was great to be able to share that joy with them.
“We are so happy for them and wish them all the best with their prize.
“In the past we have sold 13 division one prizes and numerous top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets.
“We were definitely due for a big win and we hope this is the start of a winning streak!
“We’ve been telling all our customers about selling the winning ticket and they’re all so excited for us and the winner. There’s a great vibe in store!”
From overseas holidays to Dyson vacuum cleaners, SA Lotteries spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said top prize Instant Scratch-Its winners often used their prizes in lots of surprising ways.
“While we don’t know how the latest Instant Scratch-Its top prize winner plans to treat themselves with their winnings, we do know that for many of our winners, seeing that prize in their bank accounts seeds lots of wonderful possibilities,” she said.
“Imagine what you could do with an additional $10,000 in your bank account. Many winners tell us they use their Instant Scratch-Its top prize to go on overseas holidays, upgrade their car or buy a new gadget, like an IPhone.
“A South Australian woman who won a major prize in January this year said she was going to treat herself to a new pair of shoes, a handbag, a roller door for her garage and cupboards for the laundry.”
In 2018, there were 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
