A Pottsville retiree is struggling to come to terms with his new millionaire status, initially refusing to believe he was one of last night’s Lotto division one winners.
The New South Wales player held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4139, drawn Wednesday 15 December 2021, and took home $1 million.
The winning man had no idea he was holding a life-changing ticket until an official from The Lott reached out this morning to break the exciting news.
“Are you fair dinkum?” he questioned.
“Well, I don’t know what to say.
“That’s a bit of a shock for a Thursday morning. You’ve blown me away.
“Are you serious? Wow.
“I’ve been playing Monday & Wednesday Lotto every week for the last ten years. It’s hard to believe I’ve actually had a win!
“I have no idea how I will enjoy the prize.
“Maybe the news will sink in when I get it!
“I might have to have a beer to celebrate and calm down.”
His life-changing 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Pottsville Beach Newsagency, Shop 4 & 5, 1 Coronation Avenue, Pottsville Beach.
Pottsville Beach Newsagency owner David McDowell said he was thrilled for his local and regular customer.
“It’s so nice to see this prize go to a customer that we see all the time,” he said.

There have been 11 division one wins so far this year in the North Coast and Mid-North Coast region worth more than $14.4 million.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4139 on Wednesday 15 December 2021 were 42, 11, 34, 10, 5 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 18 and 32.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4139 – one each from New South Wales and South Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 213 so far this financial year, including 72 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 95 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 102 division one winning Monday & Wednesday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won $101 million.
