Australian lottery history could be make next week if one player takes home the $80 million Powerball jackpot on offer for next Thursday’s draw!

Following eight weeks of jackpotting, Powerball’s division one prize pool for next Thursday has risen to a mind-blowing $80 million for the first time in nearly a decade. It is the equal largest jackpot prize in the game’s history.

Despite the $50 million division prize not being won by players tonight, 1,066,585 prizes were won across the country in divisions two to nine, sharing in more than $18.73 million in prize money.

Next week is shaping up as one of the biggest Australian lottery events in recent years with next Tuesday’s $70 million Oz Lotto draw.

The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said next week’s $80 million division one prize pool would see an equal Powerball record.

“The standing record for the largest Powerball jackpot in Australia was set in in 2009 when Powerball last soared to $80 million,” Mr Hart said.

“We could also see another Australian lottery record created next week if just one entry claims the entire $80 million division one prize pool.

“The standing record for the largest Powerball win claimed by a single entry in Australia was in 2016 when one ticket purchased in Hervey Bay won $70 million in Powerball draw 1025.

“Customers will no doubt be dreaming about how their life could change if they win a share in next week’s $80 million division one prize pool!”

The numbers drawn tonight in Powerball draw 1159 on Thursday 2 August 2018 were 32, 34, 1, 9, 17, 22 and 3 and the Powerball was number 19.

The $80 million Powerball draw will take place on Thursday 9 August 2018. So far this year, nine entries have taken home $121 million in Powerball division one prize money.

There are still more chances to win life-changing millions before the next Powerball draw, with Oz Lotto offering a mammoth $70 million on Tuesday 7 August 2018.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 231 so far this calendar year.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.
